"Thursday" by S; washable marker on old paper

Q: How many minimalists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Why does one need a light bulb? Since the birth of post-modernism, minimalists have attempted to tell more and more with less and less. S is no different here. The trick, however, is refusing to give in to the viewer; to never fully give out the magician’s tricks. In this intriguing work, S seems bent on “taking the piss” out of the modernist movement with a wonky, utilitarian husk. An obvious knife blade attached to a simple combination wrench speaks more blue-collar than horn-rim. Too ham-fisted? Perhaps. Too accurate? Delightfully!
