"My Dad" by K, St. Louis, marker on scroll
Notice any resemblance? It’s not uncommon for young artists to indulge in a bit of idol worship when it comes to portraits of their “fathers”. But K takes this notion of Dad as Savior a tad too literally. Apparently, in K’s world, the sun’s only purpose is to frame Daddy’s head perfectly from every angle. We’re also led to believe that Pappa walks around with arms spread gathering his lost flock for Chinese takeout and a bit of Wii bowling. You’re young K, we forgive your indiscretions, but please. Either give your audience some credit or get thee to a nunnery.
