"Pop!" by L; digitally effected photography

Pop art is nothing if not ironic. And one could argue (with very little opposition) that “being famous” has grown into a mainstream passion surpassing anything Warhol might have imagined. We no longer pine for our 15 minutes, we demand our 15 daily seconds in downloadable chunks. L’s mixing two metaphors here with good, not great affect. The pouty starlet complete with tiara being manipulated by the string pullers smacks of today’s propped up, vacant “talent pool.” The digital effects laid over photography a metaphor for the changing medium and the industry of fame itself; paint takes too long, we need everything in a click. Call it Pop Art on Twitter. An interesting work for interesting times.
